In Illustration and Animation, you’ll learn to think critically, act creatively, and bring narratives alive with aesthetic precision and conceptual flair.

    In New York City, you’ll be surrounded by art and multimedia inspiration. Pop into one of the many art museums just a few blocks away from the College on Museum Mile. Intern at one of the city’s animation studios or get experience at a multimedia company. You will marvel at all the opportunities to cultivate your illustration and animation skills.

    What You Will Learn

    • You will hone your essential skills in the foundational principles of the discipline. Using the technique of rotoscoping and the most up-to-date digital software, you will bring narratives to visual life. 
    • You will build skills in drawing, painting, illustration, and animation while developing fluency in time-based media and the art of visual storytelling.
    • You will develop a professional portfolio toward a specific style and methodology of your choice.

    Program Highlights

    Classes are offered in analog and digital illustration, motion graphics, 2D animation and 3D modeling. In addition, electives address storytelling, web design, video, multimedia, and interface design.
    You will learn via demonstrations, lectures, one-on-one consultations with professors, and design professionals in New York City. The breadth of these offerings results in a variety of educational experiences that will inform and guide your career choice.
    You will graduate with a professional portfolio suitable for entry into graduate studies or any number of illustration or animation career fields.
