Why Study Psychology at MMC
Theory and practice go hand-in-hand in our psychology program. Our faculty treat you as budding scholars and help you conduct research, present at conferences, and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Complement the traditional foundations of psychology with emerging areas of study like forensics, art and drama therapy, creative media, and health. People-watching may be a sport in New York, but you’ll be able to do more than that with internships in places like Sesame Street Workshop, the District Attorney’s office, the Child Mind Institute, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

What You Will Learn
What is the relationship between our bodies and our minds? How do nature and nurture interact to make us who we are? How can our relationships affect one’s sense of self and one’s sense of others? Gain a solid scientific approach to the human mind and learn how other factors shape us as individuals.

Understanding human behavior can lead to insights and innovations for major industry. For that reason, a psychology major can open doors in industries that go beyond the traditional areas of mental health. Our students build careers in research, medicine, creative arts therapies, management, analysis, human resources, and education. Addy & Uno and Realabilities Programs
Since 2011, students have worked alongside Nava Silton, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychology at MMC, to create Addy & Uno, an off-Broadway musical, and Realabilities, a comic book series, that both star five characters with disabilities on a quest to save their school from bullies. These projects have created real tangible results in schools that have incorporated it as part of their curriculum—and it’s all thanks to the hard work of our students.
