Why Study Biology?

A Biology minor prepares you to excel in the biological, chemical, physical, and mathematical sciences. You’ll learn the basic principles of cell biology, classical genetics, and molecular biology. You’ll deepen your critical thinking skills through the scientific process involving both observation and experimentation. Through lab work, you’ll learn the fundamental tools and techniques of biological investigation. With a minor in Biology, you’ll gain an understanding of essential life processes that will be useful in whatever you major in, whether or not it is science-related.

    Why Study Biology at MMC?

MMC offers a real opportunity to distinguish yourself as an undergraduate, through small classes and unique research opportunities, all in the heart of New York City. Our students have exceptional access to biomedical internships in the top hospitals and research institutions in the nation, including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medicine, Rockefeller University, Mt. Sinai, and the Hospital for Special Surgery. We also offer opportunities to conduct original research with faculty in the Natural Sciences. The close mentorship you will receive here is unlike any other program. As a result of these experiences, our alumni have excellent outcomes. Our Department of Natural Sciences has academic linkages with the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine(opens in a new tab) and the Touro College of Pharmacy(opens in a new tab).
