You have a passion for fashion, and you want it all—creativity and business expertise. In the Fashion Studies minor, you don’t have to choose—you can combine your interests in both arts and business, alongside your major in the liberal or performing arts.
Why Study Fashion Studies at MMC?
Take your knowledge of fashion beyond runway shows and seasonal collections. Glean the inner workings of the fashion industry in our interdisciplinary minor combining business, arts, media, and culture. You’ll take courses like Fashion Marketing and Branding, Visual Merchandising, The Social Psychology of Dress—and maybe you’ll even study in Paris with your Global Fashion Business classmates. There’s no better place than NYC, the global fashion capital of the decade, for you to confront fashion’s social, economic, cultural, psychological, and historical elements.
What You Will Learn
- Identify target markets and develop strategies and business plans for fashion-related goods and services.
- Analyze the effect of media on consumer and fashion trends.
- Leverage your artistic talents to develop your own fashion business or help fashion businesses succeed in a globalized, highly competitive environment.
Bring It to the Runway
The business department and the Fashion Marketing Student Association host an annual fashion show. A recent show was produced alongside the Asian Students Association and it celebrated and honored the wide range of cultures in our campus community.
