Classical ballet training is the primary focus of this concentration, with emphasis placed on proper use of turnout, alignment, and development of strength.
The curriculum integrates the principals of multiple pedagogical foundations and theories of Ballet and ensures that the teaching is culturally responsive to the needs of a diverse group of students. Traditional and hierarchical underpinnings are interrogated to serve today’s contemporary student. Pointe and Masculinity in Ballet serve all genders of students and are part of the course requirements for the ballet concentration.
Quality of movement as a platform for artistic expression is emphasized in the advanced levels, while special attention is paid to maintaining the integrity of the technique throughout the curriculum.
