When the city's your campus! Classes across the College had some great outings recently, including these: 📸 1: Theatre students in Professor Rachel Reiner's The Business of Broadway class went to see @notebookmusical and got to meet its Music Director and Conductor Geoffrey Ko (center) after the show! 📸 2-3: Professor Noelle Griffis took her Contemporary World Cinema class to the @filmforumnyc to see Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s beautiful and enigmatic Japanese film "Evil Does Not Exist." 📸 4-7: Professor Vanessa Leuck's Costume Production course visited the @parsonsmeares costume production house to learn about the business of making costumes and the art and work that goes into building costumes for Broadway, tours, and Disney on Ice. The shop has been in New York for over 40 years and built all of the costumes for the original CATS musical. It's also the only costume shop in NYC with its own custom paint team. 📸 8: Professor Julie Huntington led her students on a walking tour of Harlem’s literary history. The trip tied into their readings of Claude McKay’s “The Tropics in New York,” James Baldwin’s “The Amen Corner,” and Toni Morrison’s “Jazz.” They're pictured here in front of the house where Zora Neale Hurston lived during her time at Barnard College. #GoGriffins

As we continue our countdown to Commencement on May 20, a big congrats to these students repping the Class of 2024! 💙🎓 🔵 BFA Dance and Business major Jessica Watkins, who has been named senior class speaker. One thing she plans to tell classmates: “We’re about to go out in the world, and the opportunities are endless,” she said. “... I want my peers to be fully present in the moment, to breathe, and take some time to celebrate everything we managed to accomplish in the past four years.” 🔵 Our five seniors making MMC history as the College’s largest group of co-valedictorians: BFA Musical Theatre majors Haley Jane Massey, Claire Martine Thomure, and Margarita Jane Gamarnik; Film and Media Studies major Melanie Espinal; and Politics and Human Rights major Gianna Mancuso—who’s just 19 years old! Read more about all of these incredible students at mmm.edu, and see you at Commencement!
